My work is color and shape. Printmaking, creative writing, drawing, sound, and sculpture offer maps for crafted discovery and surprise encounters. Traditional and experimental processes allow me to instigate states of presence and the transfer of knowledge through material vocabularies and touch. Activities within my creative practice generate experiences for a viewer that are suggestive, poetic, and humbly philosophical.

Ry McCullough is an artist and educator based in Tampa, Florida. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, where he concentrated in printmaking and sculpture. After completing his undergraduate studies, he served as Director of Sculptural Studies and taught printmaking at Stivers School for the Arts. McCullough received his MFA in Printmaking and Book Arts from the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia. He currently serves as an Associate Professor of Art and Design and the Chair of the Department of Art + Design at the University of Tampa. McCullough has exhibited nationally and internationally and is the founder of the Standard Action press and projects, which facilitate idiosyncratic small-press publishing and exhibitions. In addition to his independent practice, McCullough collaborates on a long-distance conceptual print/performance/publishing project with Tennessee-based artist Nick Satinover, called small_bars.
